Fern

Bollard

Design Folkform

At first glance, Fern may appear to resemble an ordinary traffic deterrent, but a closer look reveals that it has subtle motifs laser-cut into the surface. When the headlights of approaching cars shine across the bollard, the reflective material on the surface captures the light and reveals the outlines of the fern leaves along the side. Fern is an interactive design that brightens up the city at night.

Materials and surface treatments

The bollad is made from sand-blasted, chromated steel pipe with an inner pipe made from heavy-duty plastic and a reflective foil on the surface. The bollard is powder-coated in standard colour black Noir 2200 Sablé.

Steel

Nola uses high-quality steel with good strength in our products. Steel rusts if left untreated and must therefore be surface treated.

Electrogalvanized

Electrogalvanizing (also known as zinc plating) provides corrosion protection through the sacrifice of zinc ions. It is created via a zinc coating on the steel using an electric current.

Powder coating

Powder coating is a coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint, powder coating is usually applied electrostatically and then cured under heat or with ultraviolet light. The result is an even, hard-wearing coloured surface with the desired gloss level.

Assembly and placement

In-ground

Cast in ground.

Surface mount

Can be bolted above ground, to the floor or to a cast-in-place foundation. Bolts not included.

Fully assembled.

Maintenance
