Design Nola

Darkrail is a practical bicycle railing made of pipes, intended to be placed at pedestrian crossings or as a stop for cyclists. One of many products at Nola that puts the cyclist at the center of the city's design. The bicycle railing is built as a handrail with posts, which creates a visible and functional handle for the cyclist, and with a grip-enhanced wear surface on the footrest that makes the cyclist ready to go when it's time to cycle on.

Steel

Nola uses high-quality steel with good strength in our products. Steel rusts if left untreated and must therefore be surface treated.

Hot-dip galvanized or electrogalvanized and powder coating

Available in either only hot-dip galvanized steel or electro-galvanized and powder-coated steel.

Hot-dip galvanizing provides very strong protection against corrosion. The steel is dipped into a bath of hot liquid zinc. The zinc attaches and creates a surface coating on the steel part, which is then taken out of the bath and drained of excess zinc.

Electrogalvanizing provides corrosion protection through the sacrifice of zinc ions. It is created via a zinc coating on the steel using an electric current. Powder coating is a coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint, powder coating is usually applied electrostatically and then cured under heat or with ultraviolet light. The result is an even, hard-wearing coloured surface with the desired gloss level.

Cast in ground.

Surface mount

Can be bolted above ground, to the floor or to a cast-in-place foundation. Bolts not included.

Powdercoated steel

Products that are powder-coated can be touch-up painted with alkyd paint.

Hor dip galvanized steel

Hot-dip galvanized can be touch-up painted with so-called "cold galvanizing".
