Gard high-backed bench is joined by a table and a backless bench made in the same distinctive style. Their frames recall the sleek wire furniture of the Mid-century period, contrasting lightweight metal rods with sturdy wooden surfaces crafted from Sioo-treated oak. Gard’s functional features have been enhanced by ergonomic characteristics that make the table and bench more accessible to anyone who may be less able. The long version of the table can be extended by 40 cm in length to provide extra accessibility to wheelchair users. The table and bench are slightly taller than industry standards. Their heights have been optimised to provide more stability for individuals needing support when sitting down and rising to their feet again. Together, the table and bench are a natural choice for food courts, cafeterias and residential care facilities, and ideal for reception areas, event spaces and rooftop terraces. Gard is robust enough for year-round outdoor use, yet stylish enough to complement indoor spaces too.

Materials and surface treatments

Oak

Oak is a heavy, hard and medium tough wood. Moderately dimensionally stable in case of moisture changes. Oak wood blackens if it is exposed to moisture or wetness for a long time. However, it does not affect the other properties of the wood. Thanks to its hardness and toughness, the oak wood is suitable for furniture and other use in exposed environments.

Accoya

Accoya® wood is the result of more than 80 years of research and development into modifying wood through an acetylation process. Accoya® wood is Radiata pine, a fast-growing wood virtually free of knots that is harvested from renewable FSC-certified forests. Accoya® wood has properties that match or exceed those of tropical woods and the treatment process is non-toxic. The pale wood will turn grey over time and may develop dark spots over time. Accoya® can withstand humid and rainy environments very well and expands/contracts less than other tropical-type woods.

Steel

Nola uses high-quality steel with good strength in our products. Steel rusts if left untreated and must therefore be surface treated.

SiOO:X treatment

Sioo:x is a wood protection with environmentally friendly silicon technology. Water-based and biocide-free. We use Sioo mainly for our oak furniture. Sioo:x treatment of is suitable for all woods, outside as well as inside, and gives a light surface without pigments. The surface is UV-resistant, water-repellent and non-stick. Active and preventive action against algae, mould and pests. Also rot-proof, wood-strengthening and fire-retardant. This wood protection provides long durability and easy maintenance.

Electrogalvanized

Electrogalvanizing (also known as zinc plating) provides corrosion protection through the sacrifice of zinc ions. It is created via a zinc coating on the steel using an electric current.

Powder coating

Powder coating is a coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint, powder coating is usually applied electrostatically and then cured under heat or with ultraviolet light. The result is an even, hard-wearing coloured surface with the desired gloss level.

Compact laminate

Compact laminate is a sheet material made of kraft paper and phenolic resins, pressed together under heat and extreme pressure. The material is completely water resistant.

Assembly and placement

Freestanding

Freestanding product that is placed directly on the ground.

Surface mount

Can be bolted above ground, to the floor or to a cast-in-place foundation. Bolts not included.

Supplied partially assembled.

Maintenance

SiOO:X treatment oak

Sioo:x-treated products are treated twice upon delivery; once with a wood protection (Premium Träskydd Altan) and once with a surface protection (Premium Ytskydd Altan). After 12 - 18 months, for best durability, the surface should be treated once more with Sioo:x Premium Ytskydd Altan. It is important to keep the product clean, otherwise the surface protection can be destroyed. Products that are exposed to heavy mechanical wear may need extra treatments. The surface treatment has a tested effect according to the standards EN 46 and EN 113.

For information about the Sioo treatment see the website www.sioox.se.

Accoya

Accoya is maintenance-free and does not require any special treatment to preserve its unique properties. If black spots should appear on the wood from pollution in the air, these are easily removed with any kind of furniture wash.

Powdercoated steel

Products that are powder-coated can be touch-up painted with alkyd paint.

Compact laminate

Compact laminate is very a strong and heavy material. It does not normally require maintenance.
