Murman Architects, in partnership with Cobab, have undertaken a complete overhaul of Turebergshuset in Sollentuna Centrum. This towering 17-story structure, originally designed by Snellman/Forsman, has served as a municipal building since 1976, and now, following the renovation, it's also home to the Sollentuna Library.

“The newly revamped library has rapidly gained popularity, with visitor numbers doubling since the move. It's heartening to see children and young adults flocking here to study and hang out,” says Marcus Sörensen, an interior architect at Murman Architects.

The inviting Basket chairs in the youth section, sporting hues of coral-red and pink, encourage both communal gatherings and moments of quiet contemplation.

The Parco chairs at the entrance, with their swivel feature, offer visitors the freedom to choose their perspective. A touch of red accents, complemented by oak, adds a vibrant touch to the space.

“We opted for the Parco swivel chairs to offer visitors the flexibility to enjoy views of both the square and the interior space, as well as the option to find a moment of solitude.”

Spread across two floors and half of the entrance level in the new cross laminated timber (CLT) extension of Turebergshuset, the library features Parco swivel chairs strategically placed to seamlessly connect the indoors with the outdoors.

“We opted for the Parco swivel chairs to offer visitors the flexibility to enjoy views of both the square and the interior space, as well as the option to find a moment of solitude. Durability was also a key consideration for the furniture selection,” adds Sörensen.

Upstairs, in the children's and youth section, the library sought to provide seating options that cater to both individual and group settings. This led to the selection of Basket chairs, known for their generous proportions that accommodate both shared moments and personal reflection.

The library's renovation was marked by a strong commitment to sustainability, with about half of the furniture inventory being repurposed. Carefully chosen new additions were seamlessly integrated with the existing space, reflecting a cohesive design ethos.
