Bobergstorg Redevelopment Project, Stockholm

Client: City of Stockholm
Architect: Sweco
Designers: Bertil Harström & Johan Kauppi
Date completed: July 2022

Situated in northeast Stockholm, Bobergstorget forms part of the redevelopment of an industrial gas works complex. The site was completed in the summer of 2022 and the area continues to be redeveloped as a commercial and cultural destination for residents and tourists. The outdoor furniture installed in Bobergstorget creates open-air meeting areas with long tables, benches and individual seating from Nola’s Harads furniture series. Bobergstorget’s redesign includes a spectacular water mirror that gives it a focal point. Stockholm’s tramway museum was recently moved to the site, making it a popular destination for tourists.

“We chose products from Nola’s Harads range because they offer a lot of variety within the different designs in the series,” says Staffan Sundström, landscape architect at Sweco. “Harads also fits in well with the historic and industrial character of the site.”

Sweco’s vision for Bobergstorg was to create an open-air urban square that would be flexible enough for multiple uses as it attracts a wide variety of people to visit the site.

Harads robustness fits in well with the historic and industrial character of the site.

A solitary bench from the Harads furniture series makes the site flexible and allows for other kinds of meetings than those taken place at the big table or sun deck on the opposite side of the square.
