Project: King's ‘K36’ Office, Stockholm
Client: King/Adolfsson & Partners
Architect: Adolfsson & Partners Architects
Date completed: 2015
King is one of the world's most successful gaming companies, developing and launching blockbuster games such as Candy Crush Saga. When King commissioned Adolfsson & Partners to design ‘K36’, their new office in central Stockholm, they chose colours and themes inspired by the world of gaming. King and Adolfsson & Partners wanted to create an immersive experience where the boundaries between virtual reality and real life would be blurred. As a result, they chose furniture and colours that represent digital designs as they provide staff with real-life desks, workstations and meeting areas within the office.
Tables, benches, chairs and other products from Nola were customised for the project. At the core of the office, an open-plan mixed-use area called ‘Pavilion Park’ was inspired by Swedish folk parks and fun-fair fairgrounds. The area is where employees can take breaks, eat meals, hold meetings or events. The furnishings include long picnic tables and benches, café tables and chairs, all stridently-coloured in bright tones. King's office has received media attention and acclaim in the interior design field, winning the Swedish Lighting Award in 2016.
The décor in the office's open-plan mixed-use space was inspired by fairground attractions. Benches and tables from Nola’s Alnön furniture series are shown here.
