Architects Liljewall installed Nola’s Blenda bike stands in the concourse outside Stockholm's iconic Tomteboda building, an architectural landmark. As Blenda’s integrated LED lighting units showed cyclists where to insert locks, they lit up the surroundings for pedestrians too.
Created for Nola by Blenda Design, the Blenda bicycle bollard is a streamlined design that received environmentally-friendly certification. The surfaces are powder-coated in a range of RAL colours, and are virtually maintenance-free. The additional light makes it easy to see and access the frame, and the additional visibility may potentially deter thieves from attempting to remove a bicycle lock.
The use of LED lighting outdoors brings benefits year round, especially during the darker autumn and winter months. LED technologies provide environmental benefits as the lighting they produce is energy-efficient and may also reduce urban light pollution. Nola works continuously to develop products for city cycling that make urban areas safer and more sustainable.
