Project: Z-Square in Leksand, Sweden
Developer: Leksand Municipality
Landscape architects: Temagruppen AB
Year of completion: 2015
Working collaboratively with Swedish landscape architects Tema, Nola was commissioned to design outdoor seating for part of the city of Leksand’s urban renovation initiative. The city has a long-standing craft heritage that includes the classic wooden chair manufactured in Leksand in the early 1800s. The Leksand chair provided the inspiration for the new seating Nola designed for the project.
The products are crafted from FSC-certified hardwood, with metal parts made from sand-cast aluminium. The furniture was designed to be robust enough to withstand Sweden’s harsh winters, enabling the products to remain outdoors year-round. Designed especially for public spaces in and around Leksand’s town centre, the new seats continue the city’s craft traditions and resonate with its stylish character.
